Great River Bluffs Running Camp 2020The objective of the Great River Bluffs Running Camp will be to provide campers and coaches an opportunity to learn about cross country and distance running from experienced coaches and staff while training in the beautiful bluffs and along the mighty Mississippi River in Winona, MN. The camp will include multiple training sessions, various learning sessions (including race strategy, off-season training, nutrition, recovery, etc.), and fun games and activities. We want this camp to be informative, encouraging, and fun for all parties involved!
Age range: Incoming 7th – 12th grade for Fall of 2020.

- Q & A with college athletes and coaches on subjects like:
- transitioning to college running
- setting structures
- working through rough patches of training or injuries, etc.

Camp Staff

Niels Anderson
Head Men's and Women's Track & Field Coach, Track & Field/Cross Country Facility and Event Management
Niels has been coaching cross country/track and field for over 20 years, first as a high school coach in Colorado and Wisconsin, and for the past five years at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Niels has coached multiple high school state champions and all-state athletes at the high school level, and his teams have had great success at the champion level. Over the past five years, Niels has worked to build the track & field teams at Saint Mary’s University into the most successful teams in the history of the program.

Nick Larson
Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach
Nick has been coaching cross country/track & field since 2004. He began his coaching career at Onalaska (WI) High School where he coached multiple state champion and all-state athletes. Nick then coached at Shakopee (MN) High School for four years where he coached Maria Hauger and Tess Misgen to state titles and all-state performances in both cross country and track & field. After his time in Shakopee, Nick coached for three years at the University of Minnesota as a volunteer coach. In his time at Minnesota, the Gophers won three B1G Ten titles, and Nick assisted in coaching four B1G Ten Champions and over 20 national qualifiers. Nick started coaching at Saint Mary’s University in August, 2018.
