Saint Mary's Camps and Community ProgramsGreat River Bluffs Track & Field Camp
The objective of the Great River Bluffs Track & Field Camp will be to provide campers and coaches an opportunity to learn about track and field from experienced coaches and staff, all while training at the great facilities that Saint Mary’s campus has to offer in Winona, Minn. The camp will include multiple training sessions, various learning sessions, event-specific sessions (sprints, hurdles, high jump, long/triple jump, shot put/discus, pole vault), offseason training, nutrition, recovery, etc., and fun games and activities. We want this camp to be informative, encouraging, and fun for all parties involved!
Age range: Incoming 7th to 12th graders for Fall of 2020.

Head Men's and Women's Track & Field Coach, Track & Field/Cross Country Facility and Event Management
Niels has been coaching cross country/track and field for over 20 years, first as a high school coach in Colorado and Wisconsin, and for the past five years at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Niels has coached multiple high school state champions and all-state athletes at the high school level, and his teams have had great success at the champion level. Over the past five years, Niels has worked to build the track & field teams at Saint Mary’s University into the most successful teams in the history of the program.
Assistant Track & Field Coach
Assistant men’s and women’s track and field coach at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Michaels is a 2017 graduate of Saint Mary’s University, where he was an All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference hurdler, current school record holder in the hurdles, as well as a team captain his senior year. In his time at Saint Mary’s he has coached the first relay to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships in school history (men’s 4×100-meter relay). He has also coached numerous athletes to all-conference honors. He has also coached numerous athletes to All-Conference Honors. An All-MIAC Sportsmanship recipient, Michaels was a multiple conference champion in the hurdles while competing for La Crosse (Wisc.) Central High School. He earned WIAA All-State honors, as well as winning a state championship in the 4×400-meter relay.
